Plain-English summary
- We use only analytics and security cookies.
- We do not run advertising or retargeting cookies on chopnook.com.
- Amazon sets its own cookies only after you click through to Amazon.
- You can block or delete cookies at any time, and the site still works.
01
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. It lets the site remember small things between pages, such as whether you have visited before. Cookies cannot run programs, and they cannot read other files on your device.
02
Cookies we use
| Cookie | Set by | Why it is used | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Tells one visitor apart from another, so we can count unique visits | 2 years |
| _ga_ followed by an ID | Google Analytics | Keeps your page views in one session together | 2 years |
| __cf_bm | Cloudflare | Helps tell real people from bots and blocks harmful traffic | 30 minutes |
| cf_clearance | Cloudflare | Remembers that you passed a security check, so you are not asked again | 30 minutes by default |
Cloudflare sets its cookies only when its security features need them, so you may not see them on every visit.
03
Necessary and optional cookies
Necessary: Cloudflare’s security cookies protect the site from attacks. Without them, we cannot keep Chop Nook safe and online.
Optional: Google Analytics cookies only help us understand which guides are useful. Blocking them does not change how the site works for you.
04
Affiliate and third-party cookies
When you click a product link and land on Amazon, Amazon may place its own cookies on amazon.com. They tell Amazon that Chop Nook sent you, so we can earn a small commission if you buy. Amazon controls those cookies under its own Cookies Notice, and we cannot read them.
05
How to manage cookies
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies:
- Chrome: Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies or Delete browsing data.
- Safari: Settings, then Privacy, then Manage Website Data.
- Firefox: Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Cookies and Site Data.
- Edge: Settings, then Cookies and site permissions.
To stop Google Analytics on every website, install Google’s opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. A private or incognito window also deletes cookies when you close it.
06
Global Privacy Control
Some browsers send a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing extra to switch off. Where the law requires it, we still treat the signal as a valid opt-out request.
07
Changes and contact
If we add or remove a cookie, we will update this page and the date at the top. Questions? Email hello@chopnook.com. You can also read our Privacy Policy.
